Welcome!

I’m Christina, a photographer and storyteller. I’m also a wife and Mum to 4 kids.

I’ve wanted to be a photographer since the age of 14. My first camera was a pink, 35mm point and shoot - I loved it! It was the 1980s, when you’d drop your film off at the Chemist, and would wait in anticipation for the printed copies. Now, I enjoy experimenting with SLRs, iPhones, Lightroom and filters. It’s so much fun!

I studied Communications at University and did a few photography subjects, but travel abroad as a backpacker led me into the world of conference and event organising, an area of work I thrived in. For almost 30 years I worked in the tourism / hospitality / conference and event management industry; but in my maturity, I’ve decided to go back to my first love - photography. I believe I’ll be a better photographer in my middle-age due to life experience, and I’ll worry less about what others think of me and my work now, than what I would have back then!

I’m currently studying photography at the Photography Studies College in Melbourne, Australia, and plan to major in Photojournalism down the track. I lived in the US from late 2018 - mid 2021 where my curiosity in all things America piqued. I used my time abroad to experience, learn, and capture as much as I could. While there, I undertook a photography workshop with ‘Momenta’ - who help storytellers expand their skills and harness their passion for social change, and I also undertook a ‘Street Photography Masterclass’ with Dotan Saguy.

Along with my Instagram account @christinadayphotography, this blog is a place to share my photos, some stories, and anything else that might be of interest - in particular, issues that touch my heart in some way. Living abroad has helped me to see life in some beautifully different ways, and I’m excited to share it with you.

Enjoy! And thank you for following…
